Dorothy Marshall
RANKIN - Visitation for Dorothy L. Marshall, 88, of Rankin, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Knapp Funeral Home in
Rankin, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Bruce Heck will officiate.
Burial will be in Rankin Union Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Marshall died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 1997) at her home.
She was born Sept. 1, 1909 in Rankin, the daughter of Ira and Nellie Eells Foley.
Her husband, Albert J. Marshall, whom she married Feb. 26, 1927 in Rankin, died Feb. 15, 1991.
Surviving are one son, Jimmie Marshall of Rankin; one granddaughter and two great-grandsons, Holly Page and Dillon
and Austin Page, all of Cadiz, Ky.
Deceased are one brother and three sisters.
She was a member of Rankin United Methodist Church.

Judith Mack
CUSTER PARK - Judith Marie Mack, 61, of Custer Park, died Wednesday (July 19, 2000) at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Larry Schreffler will officiate.
Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
Memorials may be made to the Braidwood Ambulance Fund or to the American Cancer Society.
She was born May 29, 1939, in Watseka.
Surviving are her husband, Martin Mack, whom she married Aug. 31, 1957, in Gardner; two sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Devenia Mack of Custer Park, David and Elizabeth Mack of Essex; her mother, Charlotte Lambert O'Donnell of Custer Park; and nine grandchildren.
Mrs. Mack was formerly employed at restaurants in Wilmington.
She was a member of the Custer Park Baptist Church and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 241, Wilmington.
She enjoyed needlepointing.

FREDA MAYOTTE

Freda Mayotte
Freda M. Mayotte, 71 Sheldon , died at 3:17 p.m. Sunday May 19, 1985, at Iroquois Memorial Hospital , Watseka.
    She was born Aug. 12, 1913 at WellingtOn to Hiram and Nellie Briscoe Buck. she married Anderw V. Mayotte on April 14, 1934 at Sheldon. He died Oct. 14, 1978.
    Survivors include one daughter, Barbara LaReau, two grandsons, Michael LaReau and Darren LaReau., and one brother, Robert Buck, all of Sheldon along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    A son, Ronald , died in 1951 .
    Mrs. Mayotte operated the Iroquois County Farm near Watseka with her husband from 1965 until the time of his death. She continued there, retiring in 1980.
    She was a member of the Sheldon Church of Christ , where she was very active for many years.
    The Rev. Bill Lemay will officiate at services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Sheldon Church of Christ, with burial in the Sheldon Cemetery.
    Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at DeValk Funeral Home, Sheldon, and from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

ANDREW MAYOTTE
Sheldon-- Andrew V. Mayotte, 70 RR 3, Watseka, died at 8:47 a.m. Saturday at Hawthorne Lodge, Watseka,
    He was born Aug. 9, 1908 in Sheldon Township to Mr. and Mrs. Elrick Mayotte. He married April 14, 1934, in Sheldon to the former Fredia Buck who survives.
    Mr. Mayotte served as Iroquois County coroner from 1955 to 1958. He was police magistrate for Sheldon from 1952 through 1956. From 1965 through 1975 he and his wife were superintendents of the Iroquois County Farm. He also
was a member of Sheldon Church of Christ, where he has served as an elder.
    Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Barbara LaReau of Sheldon; two sisters, Mrs. Verna Sanderon of Estero, Fla. and Mrs. Eva Borwick of Lakeland Fla. and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by a son and a brother and
sister.
    Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sheldon Church of Christ. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at DeValk Funeral Home, Sheldon, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church . Burial is at Sheldon Cemetery.

TRAFFIC CRASH FATAL FOR TWO SHELDON YOUTHS
Residents of Sheldon were shocked and saddened this week by a traffic tragedy which took the lives of two teen-aged youths, injured a 17 year-old girl, and narrowly missed involving four others in a auto-truck collision late Tuesday night on highway 24 about a mile west of Sheldon.
    The dead are Thomas Kirkpatrick 16, son of Mrs. Doris June Kirkpatrick and Ronald Mayotte 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mayotte, all of Sheldon.
    Young Kirkpatrick was killed instantly. The Mayotte boy, who suffered a skull fracture, crushing chest injuries, and severe head lacerations died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday at Iroquois Hospital.
    Miss Anna Smith , 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith, also of Sheldon, was reported in "good" condition at the hospital Thursday morning. She was suffering from a possible skull fracture and shock.
    According to State Trooper Carlyle Guenter of Kankakee who investigated, the accident happened when Young Kirkpatrick , driving a 1950 Pontiac, west-bound, apparently lost control of the car, which skidded into a ditch on
the left side of the highway and bounced out into the path of a semi-trailer, driven by Harold I. Oliver, 37 of Decatur.
    The impact exploded the truck's gasoline tanks setting the vehicle afire. Guneter said the truck turned upside down and its cargo of cartoned whiskey was strewn for fifty feet along the highway.
    The Sheldon-Iroquois fire departments were called to the scene to fight the blaze, which eventually destroyed the truck.
    Oliver, pinned in the cab by the collision, was released by firemen who cut off one of the cab doors with an acetylene torch. A few slight burns about the legs were his only injuries.
    "I'm all right," he told his rescuers. "See to those kids. They need your help much more than I do."
    It was the first time the truck driver had been involved in an accident in the 14 years, it was said.
    Firemen stayed at the accident scene, keeping the blazing truck under control and helping remove the wreckage from the highway, which was cleared shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday.
    A wrecker took the automobile, completely demolished, to the Trudeau garage in Sheldon. The engine of the wrecked car was found in a nearby field.
    According to a report, Kirkpatrick and several other Sheldon high school students had been attending the county basketball tournament in Watseka and had returned to Sheldon to discharge several of their passengers.
    Alighting from the car only a few minutes before the fatal crash were Davy Lee Henderson, Landon Streleski, Elaine Swanson, Janet Worley and Janice Bussert.     As they were leaving the automobile, it was said, the Smith girl met them
and asked Kirkpatrick and Mayottte if she could have a ride home. The boys answered in the affirmative, but instead of taking her directly home drove west out of town.
    Funeral services for the Kirkpatick youth will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Presbyterian church in Sheldon, the Rev. William Montgomery officiating.
    Born Thomas Reed Kirkpatrick, on October 16, 1935, in Minneapolis, Minn, he was the son of Everett M. and Doris June Reed Kirkpatrick. The father now resides in Washington, DC.
    Thomas was a sophomore in Sheldon High School and attended the Sheldon Presbyterian church.
    Besides the parents, he is survived by a sister, Mary Ellen, 10 and his maternal grandmother , Mrs. Brenda B. Reed, of Sheldon.
    Funeral arrangements were incomplete for Ronald Dean Mayotte, who was born March 15, 1935 in Sheldon, the son of Andrew and Frieda Buck Mayotte.
    He spent his childhood in the Stockland and Sheldon Communities and attended the Sheldon Consolidated schools, while the family lived on a farm. The family moved into Sheldon about three years ago.
    Ronald was a sophomore at Sheldon High School, where he excelled as an "A" student. He was a member of the boy's glee club, the mixed chorus and the band. As an eighth grade graduate he had received an award for scholarship from the Sheldon American Legion Post, the highest honor bestowed by the organization, to a grade school pupil. He attended the Sheldon Christian Church.
    Surviving besides the parents are a sister, Barbara Ann , 14, at home; the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Nellie Briscoe Buck of Sheldon, and several aunts and uncles.
    The body was to be returned from the Minier funeral home to the residence Thursday evening. (Contributed by Lucy)

ORA McCRAY
Watseka (cns)   Ora F. McCray, 70, of Watseka route 1 , died unexpectedly at noon Monday (Sept. 22, 1975) at his home. Death was due to natural causes.
    Born Nov. 2, 1904, at Cissna park he was the son of William and Amanda Wise McCray. On Sept. 11, 1949, at Milford he married Hazel M. Laird, who survives.
    He was a member of the Centennial Christian Church in Watseka and served as an elder.
    Other survivors include a son, William of Sauk Village; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Blaine (Dorothy) Christian of San Jose , Calif. Miss Margaret L. Callahan of Watseka, Mrs. LeRoy (Wanda) Fisher of West Chester and Mrs. Wayne (Anne) Edwards of Glendora, Calif. A stepson , Robert Callahan of Marion; three sisters Mrs. Vida Hamerich and Miss Florence
McCray, both of Cissna Park, and Mrs. Rosella Hixson of Evansville,Ind. 10 Grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Centennial Church, with the Rev. H. Franklin Sloan officiating. Burial will be in Amity Cemetery south of Watseka. Visitation will be at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today. (Contributed by Lucy)

EVERTT MC COY
   Everett McCoy, aged 39 years, two months and 20 days, died at the Edward Hines Government hospital, Hines, IL, Friday, April 30th. Death was due to carcinoma. The remains were brought to the Weyand Funeral home in Milford
where funeral services were held Monday, May 3 at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. Harry Graham. Interment was in Sugar Creek chapel cemetery.
     He was a veteran of the world war. He is survived by two daughters who reside in the state of WY, also his grandmother, Mrs. Rebecca Harness of Milford, IL. Clarence Leroy Harness of Milford is one of three uncles. Mr. McCoy was born on a farm south of Milford. He worked in the oil fields in the west. When the world war started he was residing in WY and enlisted from that state.

James A. "Art" Mabry, 69, Gibson City, died at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday 10-14-1987 at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. His funeral will be Saturday at ` 10:30 a.m. at American Lutheran Church, Gibson City, with the Rev. Dane Meuschke officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at Lamb Funral Home. Mr. Mabry was born 12-11-1917 in Elliott Co., KY. a son of Charles and Ida Lambert Mabry. He married Rebecca Adkins on 3-27-1940 at Paxton. He retired from farming in 1973, and moved to Gibson City in March 1980. Mr. Mabry was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Gibson City. Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Yvonne GrosKreutz of Danville; Nancy Weibers of Pontiac; Emily Goodapple of Normal; and Christine Rogers of Dade City, Fl.; one son, James A., Jr. of Odenton, MD; four brothers, Ted and John, both of St. Joseph; Frank of Champaign; and Charles of Oakwood; five sisters, Grace Frye of W. Lebanon, Ind.; Mildred Lomax and Ruby Fleming, both of Oakwood; Zona Shaffer of St. Joseph and Betty Darling of Champaign; and seven grandchildren. MARGARET (GRANT) MAIN
Margaret Main, age 90 of Gibson City, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday 1-20-1990 at Gibson Community Hospital Annex. Her funeral was held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City with the Reverend Laurence Sunkel officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was from 10 - 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers included Tim Fawver, Doug Hager, Doug Roesch, Frank Hunt III, David Kramer and Jack Nagle. She was born 2-4-1899 in Gibson City, a daughter of Arthur and Daisey Crammond Grant. She married Peter Roy Main on 6-13-1918 in Gilman. He preceded her in death 2-23-1974. Mrs. Main was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Gibson City, Princess Wach-e-kee Chapter of the DAR, Senior Women's Club and was a charter member of the Gibson Community Hospital Auxiliary. She lived the majority of her life in Gibson City and lived in Watseka for 20 years. Memorials may be made to her church or to the Gibson Community Hospital Annex.

LUETTA PEARL (BLISSARD) MALONE
Luetta Pearl Malone, age 75 of Waunakee, Wis., formerly of Gibson City died Saturday 11-4-2000 at Waunakee Manor Health Care Center in Waunakee, Wis. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City with the Reverend Kathleen Reichmann officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Malone was born 2-12-1925, a daughter of Roland and Frances Poplett Blissard. She married James E. Malone on 10-5-1969 at Decatur. He died 12-13-1993. Survivors include one son, Harold "Gene" (Sharon) Freund; three step-children, Doris (Buford) Gladden, Mary Lee Kretzer, Richard (Jan) Malone; two brothers, Hubert Blissard and friend Midge Wood and Robert Blissard; two sisters, Kathryn (Donald) Chase and Roberta (William) Bessette; two grandchildren, Jon Freund and Laura Freund and one great-grandson, Andrew Freer; nine step-grandchildren, Brenda (Richard) Sparks, Larry (Chris) Jacobs, Deb (Mike) Walden, Mike (Charlotte) Kretzer, Julie (Kevin) O'Donnell, Bobby Jo Malone, Carla (Sid) Hawthorne, Cindy (Kim) Fisher and Rick (Tanya) Massey; many step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, and one great-great-granson. She was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Carol Brooks; three step-sons, Steve Watson, James Kretzer and Randy Jacobs. Mrs. Malone was employed as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell. He died at 12:15 a.m. Monday 12-13-1983 at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. He was born 1-4-1909 in Wabash County, a son of Roscoe and Ethel Moore Malone. He married Luetta Blissard 10-5-1969 in Decatur and she survives. Also surviving in one son, Richard Malone, Tolono; one stepson, Harold Friend, DeForrest, Wis.; three daughters, Mary Lee Kretzer, Normal; Doris Gladden, Burton, Mich.; and Carol Brooks, Gibson City; 12 grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clyde Malone, Lawrenceville; and two sisters, Sarah Reed, Deer Creek and Rose Miley, Vincennes, Ind. He was preceded in death by one son, two grandsons, three brothers and one sister. Mr. Malone was a retired state highway employee and a member of the Teamsters Union. WILLIAM T. "BILL" MANGAN
William T. "Bill" Mangan, age 59 of Rutland died at 5 p.m. Monday 4-10-2000 at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. April 13 at the Aimone - Froelich Memorial Home in Toluca with the Reverend Michael Jones officiating. Graveside burial services were at 1 p.m. April 13 at the Drummer Twp Cemetery in Gibson City. Visitation was from 10 - 11 a.m. April 13 at the memorial home. Mr. Mangan was born 1-5-1941 in Dolton, the son of Thomas and Helen Behrens Mangan. He married Linda R. Simpson on 5-22-1999 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his wife, Linda of Rutland; two sons, Thomas Mangan of Rutland and Jeff (Candy) Rose of Streator; four daughters, Helen Mangan of Rutland, Darlene (Chuck) Bates of Buchanan, Indiana, Christine (Tate) Reiman of Streator and Teresa Hose of Rutland; one sister, Marsha Riddle of Gibson City; his step-mother, Veda Mangan of Gibson City and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Mangan was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Toluca. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

THOMAS M. MANGAN
Thomas M. Mangan ag 81 of Gibson City died at 8:19 a.m. Saturday 12-27-1997 at the Gibson Community Hospital Annex in Gibson City. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City with the Reverend Dan Hill and the Reverend Al Schneck officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was from 5 - 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers included Ty Royal, Todd McNutt, Phil VanSwol, Gary Keim, Jeff Eckhoff and Dave Hester. Mr. Mangan was born 8-5-1916 at Loda, a son of Edmund L. and Margaret M. Fowler Mangan. He married Helen Bahrer in 1939. He later married Veda Hudson on 4-23-1947 at Gibson City. Surviviors include his wife, Veda Mangan of Gibson City; one daughter, Marsha L. (Glenn) Riddle of Gibson City; one son, William T. Mangan of Rutland; four grandchildren, Kara L. (Ty) Royal of Gibson City, Amy L. (Todd) McNutt of Gibson City, Helen Ann Mangan and Tommy John Mangan, both of Rutland; three great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters. An avid White Sox fan, Mr. Mangan enjoyed sports and was one of the original organizers of Little League Baseball in Gibson City. He served as representative of the organization out of Williamsport, PA for two years. A member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Mr. Mangan attended the United Methodist Church in Gibson City. He worked in the retail field and also had owned and operated several different busineses. HARRY B. MARCELLUS
Harry B. Marcellus, 89, of Urbana and formerly of Gibson City, died at 6 a.m. yesterday 11-23-1986 at Americana Health Care Center, Urbana. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, with the Rev. Clarence Bangs officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation will be for one hour before the funeral at the funeral home. Mr. Marcellus was born 11-8-1897 in Foosland, a son of Albert and Emma Vance Marcellus. He married Jenny Marrett in Bloomington. She died 2-5-1946. Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Lishka, Biloxi, Miss.; two sons, Bob, Biloxi, Miss. and Max, Denver, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a sister and five brothers. He was a retired farmer and lived in Urbana for many years. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Champaign Moose Lodge. Scott D. Marshall, 30, of Champaign, formerly of Gibson City died at 7 p.m. Saturday 9-28-1991 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. His cause of death was not immediately available. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at American Lutheran Church, Gibson City, the Rev. Dane Meuschke officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, had charge of arrangements. He was born 9-13-1961, in Gibson City, a son of David L. and Judith K. Pretzlaff Marshall. Surviving are his father, Rantoul; his mother, Champaign; one brother, Timothy L., Thomasboro; one sister, Kimberly K. Marshall, Champaign; maternal grandmother, Ida Pretzlaff, Gibson City; paternal grandmother, LaVada Pree, Decatur; and paternal grandfather, Glenn Marshall, Urbana. Mr. Marshall was a resident of Champaign for 21 years. He graduated from Centennial High School in Champaign in 1979 and the University of Illinois in May 1991. FRIEDERIKE ANN (BECK) MARTIN
Mrs. Dave Martin died at 5:20 p.m. at the Mennonite Hospital in Bloomington, where she had been taken 11 days ago. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home with the Rev. E.H. Sauer officiating and burial in the Gibson City Cemetery. She was born Friederike Ann Beck on 4-29-1895 in Anchor, Il., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Beck. She married David Martin in Bloomington 1-5-1916. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters. Surviving are her husband and a niece, Mrs. Eleanor Beck Lamberti, whom she raised, both of Gibson City. Also two brothers survive: Henry Beck of near Bloomington and Herman Beck of Ashland, Wis.

ANNA (BRETHORST) MARTIN
Anna Martin, 76, died at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday 3-8-1978, at the Gibson Community Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday at the American Lutheran Church, the Rev. Karl Kessler officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Johnson, Ronald Conover, Ronald Collins, Stanley Leonard, Gary Brethorst and Bob Rasmussen. Mrs. Martin was born 4-28-1901 near Anchor, a daughter of Lambert and Augusta Beecher Brethorst. She married Verne Martin 9-17-1919 at Bloomington. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Norvin, Gibson City; and Wayne, Boulder, Colo.; four grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren; two brothers, Seipt Brethorst, Bellflower and William Brethorst, Loda; five sisters, Lizzie Rasmussen, Belvidere, Ida Pretzlaff, Minnie Huston, Margaret Harding and LaVerne Johnson, all of Gibson City. She was a lifelong resident of the Gibson City area and was a member of the American Lutheran Church ant the ALCW. Memorials may be made to the building fund of the church.

DARRELL D. MARTIN
Darrell D. Martin, age 52 of Gibson City died at 1:34 a.m. Wednesday 12-10-1997 at Gibson Community Hospital Annex. He had been ill. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City with Chuck Hinthorne officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and for one hour before the services on Saturday at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers were Stanley Martin and Andrew Martin. Active pallbearers included Randy Martin, John Martin, Scott Martin, Dale Martin, Julius Hufmeyer and Justin Hufmeyer. Mr. Martin was born 3-16-1945 at Ironwood, Michigan, a son of Stanley D. and Patricia Mae Hawley Martin. He married Margo C. Hufmeyer on 8-12-1967 at Gibson City. Survivors include his wife, Margo C. Martin of Gibson City; four brothers, Randy Martin of Normal, John (Linda) Martin of Gibson City; Scott Martin of Northbrook; and Dale (Debbie) Martin of Northbrook; his father, Stanley D. Martin of Hurley, Wis.; his mother-in-law, Maybelle C. He was preceded in death by his mother. Mr. Martin graduated from Gibson City High School and received his bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University. He worked at M & W Gear Company in Gibson City since 1965. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Gibson City. He enjoyed reading, watching historical documentaries and traveling.

HARRY C. MARTIN
The funeral of Harry C. Martin, age 84 of Gibson City, was held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. The Reverend Laurence Sunkel officiated with burial in Drummer Twp Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Nelson, John Bridgewater, William Anderson, Gerald Wissmiller, Robert Wissmiller and David Stolz. Visitation was held from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Martin died at 8:33 p.m. Wednesday 11-28-1990 at Gibson Community Hospital Annex. He was born 1-16-1906 near Saybrook, a son of Cornelius and Alice Williams Martin. He married Elna V. Holm 2-24-1934 at Jacksonville and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, John of Gibson City and Larry of Greenville; one daughter, Karen Mayer of DeLand; one sister, Alice Conklin, Sigourney, Iowa; five grand- children; three great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother. Mr. Martin lived in Gibson City for the past 56 years and formerly lived in Saybrook. He retired from farming in 1987 and was a member of the Ford - Iroquois Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gibson City. Floyd W. Matthews, age 81 of Gibson City died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday 11-19-1989 at Heartland Health Care Center, Paxton. His funeral was held Monday at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Randall Perry officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery. He was born 11-27-1907 in rural Gibson City a son of Lucian L. and Capitola Wendell Matthews. He married Ruth Schade 1-7-1933 in Bloomington and she survives. Also surviving is a sister, Margie Flo Walters of Gibson City. Mr. Matthews lived in the Gibson City area all his life and retired from farming in 1974. He is a member of the Gibson City Masonic Lodge 733 AF & AM and Mohammed Shrine of Bloomington. He married Fern Berkler on 2-15-1929 in Paxton and she survives. He spent the winters in Port Charlotte. He was born 9-7-1909 at Ishpeming, Mich., a son of Ora and Nina Lewis McClure. He married Mabel Lucille Dorow on 2-14-1938 at Bloomington. She died on 5-19-1959. He married Esther Mitze Hamburger on 12-22-1967 at Bloomington, and she survives. Other survivors include a son, D. He married Flora Stephens at Carlock. She preceded him in death. He married Margaret E. Armstrong on 1-15-1939 at Fisher and she survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Floy Parett, La Crescenta, Calif.; two sons, Derrell, Topeka, Kan.; Lance, Elliott; one brother, Brint, Gibson City; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. McGrew was a Christian minister for 51 years, retiring from Gibson Community Christian Church in 1977, where he had been pastor for 17 years. Rantoul - David Lee Marshall, 60, of Rantoul, formerly of Gibson City, died Friday 8-18-2000 at his home. His ashes will be buried at a later date in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at Lux Memorial Chapel, Rantoul. Mr. Marshall was born 8-3-1940 in Bloomington, a son of Glenn and LaVada Salyards Pree Marshall. He married Sandra Sergent on 5-27-1994 in Urbana. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Edward Gonder of Tacoma, Wash., Gary Jones of Gifford and Lee Jones of Rantoul; a daughter, Kimberly Kaufman of Athens, Il; a brother, Kenneth Marshall of Fresno, Calif.; a sister Pat Stacy of Champaign; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons. Mr. Marshall worked at Illinois Power for 17 years. He was in the Army for 8 years, and served in the first Special Forces and the first Special Forces airborne group during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 24, VFW 5520 of Champaign and the Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Marshall's interests included fishing, gardening and woodworking. He was a butcher at the Grab-It-Here, Bob & Hatties Market and Rose's Market, all of Paxton, and during WWII he worked in the ammunition plant in Wilmington. Mrs. Miller lived in Fairfield until 1941, when she moved to Vandalia. She resided there until 1953 when she then moved to Melvin. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church from birth to 1942. She was a member of the Vandalia United Methodist Church until she moved to Melvin, where she was a member of the United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School and held many offices in the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Melvin Women's Club and Order of the Eastern Star. Barbara E. Maulding, 78, a life-long Paxton resident, passed away Wednesday 1-1-2003 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton, the Rev. John Davenport officiating. Burial was in Glen Cemetery, Paxton. Visitation was Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Maulding was born 5-9-1924 in rural Paxton, the daughter of S.T. and Laura E. Pennington Adkins. She married Chalon D. Maulding 8-25-1944 in Austin, Texas. He survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Sheila (Don) Quinter, Flower Mound, Texas, Sandra (Dana) Sauer, Paxton, and Sharon Maulding Hale, Rantoul; five grandsons, three great-granddaughters, two brothers, Elijah (Babe) Adkins, Catlin, and John Adkins, Costa Rica; and two sisters, Josephine Skonberg, Paxton and Rebecca Mabry, Gibson City. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister. Mrs. Maulding graduated from Paxton High School in 1942, and had taken several business classes. She was employed for a number of years and retired from Dix Mutual, Paxton. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ, a member of the woman's council of the church and the Moffett Club. She loved to travel, fly with her husband and enjoyed gardening and canning. Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ or a charity of the donor's choice.

MARION C. MERKLE
Funeral services for Marion C. Merkle, who died 12-28-2002 were Tuesday morning at Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton, the Rev. Edgar L. Peters officiating. Organist weas Linda Kellerhals. Pallbearers were Harold Merkle, Rick Schaumburg, John Stuckey, Duane Merkle, Dwain Sanders and Paul Polak. Burial was in Ashkum Cemetery.

ARNOLD McROBERTS
Funeral services for Arnold McRoberts, who died 12-15-2002 were Dec 19 at Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton, the Rev. John Davenport officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Baibak, Dan Baibak, Brian Baibak and Gerald Wauldron. Honorary pallbearers were Don Carter, Bud Peden, Bob Gulley, Dutch Hertenstein, Owen Miller, Bill Owens and Paul Horridge. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur.

EDWARD MADIX
Edward G. Madix, 93, of Normal, formerly of Hudson, formerly of Loda, died at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday 1-14-2003 at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal. His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington. The Rev. Don Roszkowski officiated. Burial was in Hudson Cemetery, Hudson. Visitation was one hour before the service Saturday at the memorial home. He was born 10-24-1909 in Loda, a son of Peter James and Margaret Saxma Madix. He married Lola Hinshaw on 8-18-1934, in Loda. She died 10-16-1995. Surviving is one sister, Doris Madix, Paxton; several nieces and nephews. Three sisters preceded him in death. He was a carpenter for Local 63 and a 60-year member. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bloomington, and a member of MeLean County Farm Bureau. He graduated in 1930 from ISNU. He served with the Air Force in India during WWII. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Memorials may be made to American Red Cross.

DIANE ELIZABETH (TOLLEFSEN) MORANO
Diane Elizabeth Morano, 61, of Gibson City died at 5:30 a.m. Monday 4-8-2002 at her home. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Gibson City, the Rev. William Smith officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Friday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, with a rosary service at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Providence High School; Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; or the Gibson City- Melvin-Sibley High School Scholarship Fund. She was born 7-6-1940 at Oak Park, a daughter of George E. and Ella M. Sirovatka Tollefsen. She married Michael Morano 1-14-1961 at Cicero and he survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Maria Morano, Hebron, Ky; three sons, David (Maria Rivera) Morano, Allerton; Daniel (Cindy Farris) Morano, Gibson City; and Dale Morano, Savoy; 10 grandchildren; and two brothers, Russell Tollefsen, Berwyn; and Donald Tollefsen, Mokena. Her parents, one granddaughter and one daughter preceded her in death. Mrs. Morano owned and operated Gibson City Florist in Gibson City for 17 years, retiring in 1994. She and her husband then moved to New Lenox, returning to Gibson City to live in July 2001. Mrs. Morano was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Gibson City. She was a member and past president of the Council of Catholic Women. She also was a member of the Women of the Moose in Gibson City and the Business Professional Womens Club.

JAMES E. MILLER
Funeral services for James E. Miller, 68, of Gibson City will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. The Reverend Randall Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City with military rites by Lee Lowery American Legion Post 568. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Masonic rites at 8 p.m. by Gibson City Masonic Lodge 733 AF & AM. Mr. Miller died at 10:40 a.m. Friday 2-1-2002 at Gibson Area Hospital. He was born 12-21-1933 at Flora, a son of Cleo and Catherine Hopper Miller. He married Laura A. Blair on 12-3-1961 at Goodwine and she survives. Also surviving is a son, Edwin Miller of Gibson City. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Mr. Miller had lived in Gibson City since 1967. He owned and operated Gibson Bowling Lanes from 1967 until his death. He was an Army veteran. He was past president of the Gibson City Chamber of Commerce and past secretary of the Gibson City Lions Club. He was a member of Gibson City Masonic Lodge 733 AF & AM, the Drummer Chapter OES, Mohammed Temple at Peoria and the Corn Belt Shrine Club of Gibson City. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Danville Consistory, 40 & 8 McLean County Voiture, Lee Lowery American Legion Post 568 and the Elliott AmVets. LESLIE E. MULVANY
Leslie E. Mulvany, 83, of Gibson City died at 8:38 p.m. Monday 8-5-2002 at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City. His memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Gibson City, the Rev. Don Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation will be from 11 - 1 p.m. Friday at the Church. Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Gibson City or to the Gibson Area Hospital Annex Activity Fund. Mr. Mulvany was born 1-15-1919 at Thomasboro, a son of Hershel and Gertrude Jones Mulvany. He married Lorraine R. Rapalee on 3-21-1942 at Paxton. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Michael (Shari) Mulvany, Springlennis (Nancy) Mulvany, Champaign; three grandsons, Ian Mulvany, Boston, Mass.; Aaron Mulvany, Philadelphia, Pa.; and Kirk Mulvany, Champaign; three stepgrandsons,Charles Speta, San Francisco, Calif.; Bart Speta, Springfield; and Doug Speta, Springfield; two step-granddaughters, Cindy Atkins, Naperville; and Jennifer Snyder, Chicago; four great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and a sister, Fern Carroll, Gibson City. He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Mr. Mulvany attended Illinois State University in Normal before joining The Army Air Corps in 1942 where he served with the 316th Airborne Troop Carrier Group in Egypt, Sicily, Italy and England, deploying paratroopers and gliders throughout the invasion of Europe and D-Day. After returning from the service, Mr. Mulvany joined his father in the plumbing and heating business becoming Mulvany and Son Plumbing and Heating where they continued as H.E. Mulvany and Son. He retired in 1986. Mr. Mulvany was a member of the Gibson City United Methodist Church and the Gibson City Rotary Club. He served 26 years on the Gibson City Fire Department.

MARGARET "MIDGE" R. (REESE) MIDDLETON
Margaret "Midge" R. Middleton, age 87 of Aurora, formerly of Gibson City, died Saturday 6-15-2002 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Gibson City with the Reverend William Smith officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday June 19 at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City where a rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Bill Hartford, Tom Hartford, Maurice Copher, Ted Swanson, Jack Kollross and great-grandson, Daniel. Mrs. Middleton will be cremated. Mrs. Middleton was born 2-13-1915 at Lawrence, Michigan a daughter of Emerson A. and Julia LaDuke Reese. She married William S. Middleton on 6-27-1940 at South Bend, Indiana. He preceded her in death on 1-26-1992. Survivors include one son, William R. (Cassandra) Middleton of North Aurora; one daughter, Julia (David) Owens of Greybull, Wyoming; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, John A. (Kathleen) Reese of South Bend, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother. Mrs. Middleton was a member of the Joliet Council of Catholic Women, the Third Order of St. Francis, the Illinois Bar Association, the Kane County Bar Association, the Tri-Delta Sorority and the Retired Officers Association. Gary D. Mooney, age 56 of Crofton, MD, formerly of Gibson City died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, 6-25-2002 at North Arundel Hospital in Glen Burnie, Md. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. July 1 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Gibson City with the Reverend William Smith officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. July 1 at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City. Pallbearers were Mark Kumler, Mark Schuler, Todd Sommer, Kurt Sommer, Ben Clayton, Terry Bell, Tim Mooney, Tom Mooney and Chad Young. Mr. Mooney was born 4-14-1946 at Urbana, a son of John and Evadna Kumler Mooney. He married Colette M. Paquette on 2-5-1999 at Annapolis, MD. Survivors include his wife, Colette M. Mooney of Crofton, MD; two sons, Timothy Dean Mooney of Port Huron, MI and Tom Alan (Rebecca) Mooney of LaJunta, CO; his mother, Evadna Mooney of Gibson City; one sister, Gail Schuler of Peoria and one grandson, Mason Mooney. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Mooney was a graduate of Illinois Commercial College in Champaign. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Mooney had been employed by Infinit Computer Company for 27 years. Memorials may be made to Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City.

CALEB MOWREY

Revs. Donald Gross and David Newton will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Stockland. Memorial may be made to the Stockland Fire Department, Riley children's Hospital Pediatric Cardiology Unit, Milford Library, or Sacred Heart School in Fowler, In. Caleb died Saturday, march 3, 2001 at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, In. He was born Jan. 14, 2001, in Lafayette, Ind. the son of Ty L. and Brenda L. Budreau Mowrey. His parents survive. Also surviving are one brother, Cody Lee Mowrey, at home; maternal grandparents, Dan and Miriam Budreau of Fowler, Ind; paternal grandparents,Maynard and Harriet Mowrey of Stockland; maternal great grandmother, Edna Budreau of Fowler, Ind.; three uncles and aunts., James and Debra Mowrey and Jon and Tracy Mowrey, all of Stockland and John and Brenda Budreau of Fowler, Ind. and five cousins.

ELLA DORENDA SARJENT MORTON
Mrs. Ella Morton, wife of m. E. Morton, died at her home in the northeast part of town Tuesday morning at 9 after an illness of twelve weeks. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Christian Church conducted by Rev. Howard O. rocks of Canton, Missouri. Interment followed in Maple Grove Cemetery. Ella Dorenda, Daughter of Simeon and Dorenda Sarjent, was born near Milford, April 22, 1865 and passed away at her home in Milford, Jan. 4, 1916. Her life of fifty years was spent in this vicinity, and she enjoyed a wide circle of acquaintances. She was a teacher in the schools of Milford and Stockland townships prior to her marriage to M. E. Morton April 8, 1885. To this union was born two sons, Lester and Early of Milford. She was fourteen years of age when the first Christian church of Milford was built and on the day of its dedication she united with that organization and always remained faithful active member until the time of her death. She was president of the Ladies Aid Society when the building Fund for the new church was started, and she was greatly interested in raising money for that purpose. She was active in all branches of the church work, especially the C. W. B. M. she was also a charter member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge and has filled various office in the lodge. One of the traits of her character that her friends will remember is her kindness in caring for the sick and afflicted, as she as often found where help was needed most. Her last illness dated from June, when a decline in health was apparent. She resisted the approach of disease for many weeks, but for the past three months the rapid development of internal cancer , caused her the greatest suffering and while loving friends did all that was possible to comfort her they realized that theirs was a losing battle. She passed away Tuesday morning after several hours of semi consciousness. Besides her husband and sons she leaves her aged mother, two brothers, Watson and William Sarjent and three grandchildren to mourn her loss.
